Lena Kam, Center Director
'My dream is for our next generation to rise and shine in the world through music. Music has the power to enrich the life of every child.'
Lena Kam is Music Together Rise N Shine center Director, registered teacher, music therapist and music educator. She believes that early childhood music experience provides holistic benefits in every developmental area--cognitive, emotional, psychological, physical, social, and spiritual.
She holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education/Piano Performance from Rowan University and studied under Lili M.Levinowitz, Ph.D who is the founder of Music Together®. Lena taught music to K-12 grades (Music Together program for Kindergarten grade, General Music History, Music Theory, Women's Ensemble, Choir, Band and Orchestra) at South Hampton Elementary school and at Seneca High School in New Jersey. There she had the opportunity to teach students with developmental disabilities and saw the power of music and its positive influence in their lives. This led her to continue her studies and earn a Master of Music Therapy at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Lena worked as a music therapist in Philadelphia helping people of all ages and with different disabilities-brain injury, autism, developmental, psychological, neurological, and emotional disabilities. She has worked with a number of organizations including Easter Seals, Girard Medical Center, Kardon Institutes for Arts Therapies, Settlement Music School, and nursing homes.
Lena is currently a conductor for Good Stewards Church Youth Orchestra, a music teacher/director for Circle of Friends for young adults with special needs, and runs a piano studio in Diamond Bar and Walnut. She is the mother of three boys who still love singing songs from Music Together.
